1. Head of the Chief Executive’s Policy Unit (CEPU) attended the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Chinese Association of Hong Kong & Macao Studies in Beijing


Dr Stephen Wong, Head of the CEPU, attended the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Chinese Association of Hong Kong and Macao Studies in Beijing.

Dr Stephen Wong, Head of the CEPU, attended the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Chinese Association of Hong Kong & Macao Studies in Beijing, and listened to the speech delivered by Mr Xia Baolong, Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Work Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council.

2. Holding a thematic workshop with the CEPU Expert Group members and others


The CEPU invited a number of the CEPU Expert Group members, scholars and representatives from think tanks to discuss how to develop Hong Kong into an international education hub.

The CEPU Expert Group members Professor Lau Pui-king (left) and Dr Henry Ho (middle) as well as Professor Anderson Shum, Professor of the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering, the University of Hong Kong, put forth their views and suggestions at the workshop.

The CEPU maintains with members of the CEPU Expert Group various regular liaison mechanisms, such as the “small group exchanges mechanism”, to enable them to provide expert views and new ideas for the CEPU. The CEPU held a thematic workshop on how to develop Hong Kong into an international education hub. Members of the Expert Group including Mr Tai Hay-lap, Professor Charles Ng, Dr the Hon Chow Man-kong, Professor Lau Pui-king and Dr Henry Ho, who all had rich education experiences and relevant research background, attended the workshop alongside the Under Secretary for Education, Mr Jeff Sze, to exchange views on related matters.

3. Exploring ways to enhance Hong Kong’s economic competitiveness with the CEPU Expert Group members

Dr Stephen Wong, Head of the CEPU, met with the Expert Group members Mr Adam Kwok and Dr Henry Ho to discuss measures to enhance Hong Kong’s economic competitiveness.

Dr Wen Yajing, Deputy Director of the Department of Hong Kong, Macao and Regional Development, China Development Institute (CDI), also participated in the discussion. The CDI is led by Dr Guo Wanda, a member of the Expert Group.

4. Exchanging views with the China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) Limited and conducting a visit to its project in Nansha


Dr Stephen Wong, Head of the CEPU, and his delegation held an exchange forum with representatives of the CCCC.

Accompanied by the management of the CCCC, Dr Stephen Wong and his delegation visited the tip of Lingshan Island in Nansha, and listened to their experience in urban construction and project management in different cities in the Mainland and overseas.

Dr Stephen Wong, Head of the CEPU, Dr Wang Chunxin, Deputy Head of the CEPU, and their delegation visited the corporate exhibition gallery of the CCCC in Nansha, Guangzhou. A seminar was held between the delegation and the management of the CCCC including its Deputy General Manager, Mr Chen Zhong. Dr Stephen Wong also conducted a visit to the CCCC’s development project located at the tip of Lingshan Island, Nansha. During the visit, the CCCC’s management shared the company’s experience in urban construction, infrastructure construction and financing in different countries and Mainland cities including Nansha.

5. Visiting the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) Fok Ying Tung Research Institute in Nansha


Dr Stephen Wong, Head of the CEPU and Dr Wang Chunxin, Deputy Head of the CEPU, visited the HKUST (Guangzhou) Fok Ying Tung Research Institute in Nansha.

Dr Stephen Wong, Head of the CEPU, and his delegation listened to the introduction given by the staff during their visit to the Center for Engineering Materials and Reliability of the Research Institute.

Dr Stephen Wong, Head of the CEPU, Dr Wang Chunxin, Deputy Head of the CEPU, and research colleagues visited the HKUST (Guangzhou) in Nansha. They visited the HKUST Fok Ying Tung Research Institute to learn about its work on innovation research and transformation of technological outcomes. The delegation also visited the Center for Engineering Materials and Reliability of the Research Institute.

6. Visiting the Minxin Hong Kong School (Guangzhou Nansha) and the Nansha Port


Dr Stephen Wong, Head of the CEPU, and his team visited the Minxin Hong Kong School (Guangzhou Nansha).

A teaching staff of the Minxin Hong Kong School (Guangzhou Nansha) introduced the school’s development to Dr Stephen Wong, Head of the CEPU, and his team.

Dr Stephen Wong, Head of the CEPU, Dr Wang Chunxin, Deputy Head of the CEPU, and members of the delegation visited the Minxin Hong Kong School (Guangzhou Nansha) to understand its latest development and the schooling of children of Hong Kong people. On the same day, Dr Wong and his delegation visited the Nansha Port to observe the operation of the port facilities.

7. Delegation of the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS) had exchanges with the CEPU during its visit to Hong Kong


Delegation of the SIIS met with the CEPU.

The SIIS had a friendly exchange with the CEPU in Hong Kong. The SIIS indicated their increasing attention to Hong Kong and Macao, and both sides looked forward to further co-operation on research in the future.

8. Deputy Head of the CEPU attended the Pilot Free Trade Zone High-level Forum in Heilongjiang


Dr Wang Chunxin, Deputy Head of the CEPU, attended the Pilot Free Trade Zone High-level Forum in Heilongjiang and delivered a keynote speech.

Dr Wang Chunxin, Deputy Head of the CEPU, visited Heilongjiang to attend the 2023 National Free Trade Area Innovation Alliance Co-operation and Exchange Conference cum China (Heilongjiang) Pilot Free Trade Zone High-level Forum. He also delivered a keynote speech to share Hong Kong’s experience in maintaining a superior environment for business.
